Our Story

Eric and Mari Lynn have been married for 36 years and have spent decades walking alongside people in seasons of pain, confusion, and restoration. Their experience spans pastoral ministry, counseling, chaplaincy, and community service. They are the proud parents of four children and have two grandchildren.

Over the years, they saw a common pattern: lasting change happens when the heart is cared for with truth, patience, and prayer—not pressure or quick fixes. That conviction led them to biblical pastoral counseling grounded in listening, Scripture, and dependence on the Holy Spirit.

Eric holds a Master’s degree in Christian Counseling and has served as a pastor, chaplain, and counselor in a variety of settings. Mari Lynn holds degrees in Social Work and Biblical Studies and has worked with families, individuals with disabilities, and those experiencing crisis. Together, they bring both professional training and lived experience to their work.

Their counseling is biblically based and pastoral in nature. They do not provide medical or psychiatric services. Instead, they walk with individuals and couples through emotional and spiritual struggles using Scripture, prayer, and practical guidance.

They work primarily with adults, married couples, and couples who desire Christ-centered healing and growth.

Statement of Faith

Freedom for the Heart Biblical Counseling is rooted in historic, biblical Christianity. Our counseling approach flows from the following beliefs:

We believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God and is sufficient for teaching, correction, and guidance in matters of faith and life.

We believe in one God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man, who lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the grave, and offers forgiveness, restoration, and new life to all who trust in Him.

We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone—not by works—and results in a transformed life.

We believe the Holy Spirit is active today, bringing conviction of sin, guiding believers into truth, empowering repentance, and producing spiritual growth and healing.

We believe every person is created in the image of God and is worthy of dignity, compassion, and care.

We also believe that all people are affected by sin, which impacts the heart, relationships, and life choices.

We believe true and lasting change happens at the heart level through the work of the Holy Spirit, the application of God’s Word, prayer, and loving, truthful counsel.

We believe the Church is the body of Christ and that counseling is most effective when it complements involvement in a local Christian community.

Our counseling is pastoral and biblical in nature. We do not provide medical, psychiatric, or clinical services, but seek to walk alongside individuals and couples toward healing, freedom, and spiritual growth in Christ.
